Day 14
Hi beautiful beings. I hope this post finds you with an open mind and a willing heart. As promised, let's break down steps three and four from yesterday's discussion on How do I know it's worth it? If you haven't already checked out #TheWillToLive day 13, read that post first and then mosey on back to day 14. If you're all caught up then let's get right into it.
Step three: 'Am I causing myself unnecessary discomfort? If so, how do I put it to an end?'
I don’t know about you, but I’ve done some overthinking in my day. So much, to the point that it began to cause anxiety. I began having difficulty making decisions and constantly let people weigh in on my decisions. I never knock that phase of my life because it brought me to where I am today. I learned that we are the authors of our own fate. If something or someone is causing us discomfort, let us first look within and ask ourselves this very simple question, “ Am I living my truth?”. I used to get so tangled up in trying to be palatable for others that I began to deny my own truth. The truth is, our spirit always knows what's best for us. That small familiar voice is always there to guide us towards what it good and honest. We just have to have enough courage to live out our truth unapologetically. Why cause yourself unnecessary discomfort? We are here to make productive decisions... right ? Right! Glad we’re on the same page here.
Now let’s say that you have caused or are causing yourself unnecessary discomfort; the way out is honesty. First, be honest with yourself. Then, be honest with any other party involved. We cannot control how others react to our truth. We can only present the facts and maintain our posture through whatever their reaction may be. I want to remind you that you ALWAYS have a choice. So make that decision ! The one that is productive and pushes you to be a better you.
On to step four: "When all is said and done, will my perspective on this situation help me to grow and be at peace in my mind, body, and soul?”
This one is pretty self explanatory but I’ll explain it because, well, that’s what I’m here for. We must get in the habit of understanding the root of our decision making. We must evolve into conscious and accountable human beings in this society. When you make a decision from an authentic place, you are rewarded with authentic peace. No matter what may shift as a result of your decision, you would have made that decision having weighed your options, been introspective, and trusted that you know what is best for YOU.
In a world full of trends, honey, be a classic. A YOU that never goes out of style.
An Affirmation:
I am uniquely and Divinely made. I trust myself to make the best decisions for me. I only entertain situations and people that encourage me to be my authentic self. I will never settle for less than what I deserve and I deserve the BEST. I am the boss. I am the bag. I am indispensable. I am the ONLY ME. In a world full of trends, I am a classic.
Love,
Yourself
